West becomes Pelion Elementary School principal

LEXINGTON, SC – During the June 28, 2016 monthly meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board approved the promotion of Wendy S. West to the position of principal of Pelion Elementary School.
West, who currently serves as assistant principal at Pelion Elementary, has 19 years of educational experience. She has worked at PES since 1999.
She joined Pelion Elementary School as a third-grade teacher in 1999. In 2006, she became literacy coach at PES before being promoted in 2011 to assistant administrator. In 2014, she was promoted to assistant principal.
West received a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from the University of South Carolina Aiken, a Master’s of Elementary Education from Lander University and a Master’s of Educational Leadership, Administration and Supervision from the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
She is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators, National Association for School Administrators, Columbia Area Reading Council and International Reading Association.
