What South Carolina Waterfowl Hunters Need to Know About Federal Duck Stamps for the 2024-2025 Season
December 8, 2024Duck season is well underway in South Carolina, and waterfowl hunters are reminded to ensure they meet all federal and state licensing requirements, including the federal duck stamp. Hunters can choose between purchasing an electronic federal duck stamp or a traditional physical federal duck stamp from any U.S. Post Office.
Important Reminders for Hunters:
- Electronic Federal Duck Stamps: Hunters must carry a digital copy while hunting, either printed or through the Go Outdoors SC mobile app.
- Traditional Federal Duck Stamps: If using the physical stamp, hunters must sign and affix it to their license while hunting migratory waterfowl.
- Out-of-State Hunters: Nonresidents with a federal duck stamp from their home state must provide proof of purchase, which will be valid in South Carolina.
Additional Licensing Requirements
Changes to the federal duck stamp do not impact the free South Carolina migratory bird permit (HIP). Hunters must still complete the harvest data survey for the 2023-2024 season when obtaining their permit.
