Looking for a unique weekend getaway that blends art, history, and coastal beauty? This weekend, step inside one of South Carolina’s most captivating creative landmarks for the 51st Annual Atalaya Arts & Crafts Festival, returning to Huntington Beach State Park in Murrells Inlet.
Running from Friday, September 25 through Sunday, September 27, this three-day celebration brings together more than 100 juried artists inside a space designed specifically for the creative spirit.
An Art Show Like No Other
Unlike standard convention center art fairs, the Atalaya festival takes place inside the former winter residence of famed sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington and her husband, scholar and philanthropist Archer Huntington. Built during the Great Depression, this Moorish-style residence features a signature 40-foot watchtower, serene courtyards, and open-air studio spaces built specifically to accommodate large-scale artistic creation.
For one weekend only, these historic corridors wake up to serve their original purpose: making, displaying, and celebrating art. Visitors can wander through the historic rooms to discover contemporary paintings, handcrafted goods, fine crafts, and live artist demonstrations—all accompanied by live music throughout the weekend.

The festival runs from noon to 5:00 pm on Friday, and from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Atalaya is located at Huntington Beach State Park, Murrells Inlet, SC. Admission is $10 per person per day, and children ages 15 and under are admitted free.
