Woodlands seminar to focus on dementia

GREENVILLE, SC –  March 31, 2014 – Dealing with dementia will be the subject of the next lunch and learn for seniors organized by a group of local agencies including The Woodlands at Furman.

Buncombe Street United Methodist Church will host the lunch and learn program on the basics of dementia.   Speakers Wanda Vaughn and Mary Lee will focus the discussion on the causes of dementia, the various types, how families can cope and what resources are available.

The event will be held in Buncombe Street UMC’s Truluck Room- 108 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 22.  This is the third in a series of four informative luncheons.  Lunch will be provided. Cindy Johnson, community relations director at The Woodlands at Furman, said the Woodlands is a valued partner in this initiative with the church.

We realized that seniors have many questions on dementia, Johnson said. This is our way of serving that community.
