March 7, 2016

Once again, the world-famous Kudzu Queens will support women’s charities and serve as the grand finale of the St. Pat’s in Five Points parade on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 10 a.m. The Kudzu Queens encourage the public to donate in their honor to Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands: https://www.stsm.org/donate-now/online-giving

The Kudzu Queens have donned bright red wigs, purple sequin gowns and green feather boas to appear in the St. Pat’s in Five Points parade for more than a decade. The group, a sisterhood of local businesswomen and community leaders, frequently wins the prize for best float, entertaining the crowd by dancing and blowing kisses to a fun, energetic soundtrack of popular hits.

This year, the Kudzu Queens will join the Five Points Association in celebrating the neighborhood’s recent Centennial, welcoming festival headliners Drive-By Truckers, Shovels & Rope, Old Dominion and The Front Bottoms. The parade runs down Devine Street, starting at 10 a.m. in front of Earth Fare/Dreher High School in Shandon and ending in front of Hip Wa Zee/Food Lion in Five Points.
