Community Spotlight – WLS Foundation and City of Clinton Partner to Raise $5,000 for Local Veterans

November 13, 2020

Veterans Day 2020 started out dreary and wet but ended with sunshine and smiles in Clinton, South Carolina.

As reported earlier on the BUZZ, the City of Clinton partnered with WLS Foundation to truly make a difference for local Veterans.  Together with the support of local businesses and individuals, the fundraising efforts can be called a resounding success. In just a few weeks they were able to raise $5,000.

According to Patrick Elswick, Co-founder and CEO of WLS Foundation, all the money raised will stay here to support the needs of Veterans.

Another way to “give back” is to support and encourage our JROTC cadets interested in pursuing a career in the military. In a ceremony held outdoors at Clinton High School, Elswick presented a $500 scholarship to Damaris Flores.  She was one of two cadets who applied for the scholarship and participated in the interview process.

So, what’s next for WLS Foundation in Clinton? Elswick is committed to growing the program here and plans a build project (ramp or home remodeling) for a Veteran next year.  He has lots of ideas and is truly passionate about his work to help Veterans.

The sun came out and there were smiles all around.  We thank all of our local Veterans and appreciate each and every one of them.
