On Tuesday, September 21st voters will go to the polls in a special election to fill the open County Council position for District 3. The seat was vacated when Councilman Garrett McDaniel resigned to become the Director of Executive Scheduling and Operations for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the Biden Administration.

On the ballot to fill the vacant seat are Shirley Clark (D) and Scott Tollison (R).

Clark is employed by Laurens School District 55 (for 19 years) and according to her LinkedIn profile is a transition driver for the school district.

Tollison is a graduate of Clemson University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and financial management.  In his banking and finance career that spans forty plus years, he has served in leadership positions in branches of banks in Laurens.

“As Chairman of the Laurens County Republican Party, I give my full and total endorsement to Scott Tollison in the District 3 County Council election,” said LC GOP Chair Luke Rankin.  “Mr. Tollison has the vision and passion to continue the success that Laurens County is embracing and his extensive experience in the finance and banking industry will be a tremendous asset to County Council.”
